Welcome
to the home page for the Oregon Wolves 10U (Holmes) Softball team. We
are a first year ASA team with a goal to play, at the highest level as
an aggressive, solid defensive and hard hitting ball club. As many of
our players are 9 years old (one 8 year old), we will play B level our
first season and A after that. Our
goals for this season are for the girls to learn solid softball
fundamentals, enjoy the game and have fun with each other, while
learning what competition and winning is all about.
Our
coaches are among the most experienced and successful ASA and high
school coaches anywhere. See complete coaching biographies at Coaches.
Assistant coach Scott Hunsdon
is an experienced fast pitch softball coach from ages ranging from
T-ball to the ASA 16-"A" level. He has taken his teams to national
tournaments in Colorado as well as Oregon and Washington. Scott
understands how to create excitement for the sport among girls, as well
instill fundaments that are uncompromising.
Bill Holmes
is ready to continue building another successful Wolves team with
players that have fun, play at the highest level and are rewarded for
their success. Bill’s 14-A Wolves team is among the most competitive
14-U teams around and he has coached his former 10-A team into the
Oregon State ASA Championship game. Bill has coached at Tualatin High
School as an assistant varsity coach under head coach Dan Roisom
(Pac 6 Conference Coach of the Year in 2008) and as the Tualatin High
School JV head coach where his team finished the season with a 16 – 4
record. While Bill’s philosophy is for his teams to “play up”, he
believes this new team will do just that as the girls progress and
develop a “winning attitude”.
The
goals of the Oregon Wolves for this coming season are to contend for
the 10A/B state championship and to develop a lasting appreciation for
the game of softball. The girls will have a fun yet competitive
experience.
Our
girls (and parents) are committed to improving their softball skills
through offseason workouts, private hitting / pitching / catching
instruction, as well as strength training and conditioning. To assist
our players in their quest for excellence, the Wolves own a year round indoor hitting / fielding facility
that is exclusively used for our players and team. Our facility is a
1,500 square foot fully netted indoor cage with either one large or two
tunnels perfect for hitting, pitching, catching, throwing and
fielding. During winter workouts, the Wolves also lease a larger
indoor facility that the team uses for full infield practices, footwork
fundamentals and positioning.
We
are pleased to be able to provide all of the parents of our players
with keys to the indoor facility so that off season / in season work on
softball fundamentals, whether on their own or with their own
individual instructors, is productive and comfortable. The maintenance
of our facility is part of our continued commitment to excellence. See Facility for more information.
The
2010 season looks to be an exciting one. We expect to play in
approximately 9 spring / summer tournaments, including State and Summer
Nationals. We do not expect to travel to out of town tournaments;
however, we will do so in the coming years to such tournaments as the
Ice Breaker in Tri-Cities and the Bend Showdown in Bend, Oregon, where
the girls (and families) can experience great softball and take in the
local attractions together as a team.
We
look forward to 2010 being a great Wolves season for our 10-U players
and parents! Thanks for visiting our web site. For more information
regarding the Oregon Wolves, please feel free to contact Bill Holmes
